A Cluttered 400-Page Site Became a Colorful Home for Adoption, Donations, and Volunteers.

Cat Rescue & Sanctuary · New York, USA

Before

Before

The sanctuary's site was running on an older version of Squarespace with more than 400 pages, and their adoptable cat listings lived on a separate outside platform instead of their own website. Between the two, nothing felt connected, and the site didn't reflect the sanctuary's personality at all.

What we focused on

  • Migrated the entire site to a newer version of Squarespace

  • Built a new database, linked to a spreadsheet, so adoptable cat listings now live directly on the sanctuary's own site instead of a third-party platform

  • Cut the site from 400+ pages down to about 20 + blog and news

  • Rebuilt the pages for their three core programs: adoption, donations, and Seniors for Seniors

  • Brought every donation method into one integrated system

  • Added a blog, news, and in-the-media sections

  • Redesigned the whole site with a colorful, playful look that matches the sanctuary's personality, and structured every page to convert visitors into adopters, donors, or program participants

The result

  • Adoptable cats now show up right on the sanctuary's own site, no more sending people to an outside platform

  • A site that dropped from 400+ pages to about 20, so people can actually find what they're looking for

  • A colorful, dynamic design that finally feels like the sanctuary, not a generic template

  • Clear paths to adopt, donate, sponsor or volunteer, instead of a maze of old pages

ROI

A 400-page site doesn't just confuse visitors, it eats staff time. Every broken link, outdated program page, or duplicate listing was something someone on a small nonprofit team had to catch and fix by hand. Cutting the site down to about 20 focused pages, with adoptable cats pulling straight from a linked spreadsheet instead of a manual update, means the team spends less time maintaining the website and more time running the sanctuary.

It also changed things on the visitor's side. Instead of digging through hundreds of pages, people can browse adoptable cats and actually pick the one they want, donate or sponsor a specific animal, and find their way into the programs without getting lost first. The site now does the work of guiding people to the right action instead of leaving them to figure it out on their own.
